The most dangerous hurricane month is clearly october when atmospheric temperatures are cooling down much more rapidly than the longer remaining summerly water temperatures. The hurricane probability arround cuba is each year very high, but it is not sure at all that a strong hurricane (or how cubans say "cyclon") has a landfall on cuban coast or passes cuban territory. If you want or need to travel to cuba iwithin the hurrican season, you always have to count with flight delays and within hotel installations also within electricity problems, caused by possible damages. Worst case: in they eye of the hurricane Staying within a Hotel building is the best way to prevent you from personal damage, when in the worst case the center of a hurricane passes your holiday location. Just notice that in summer-monthes (from may until mid-october) the cuban temperatures are not only higher, but also the humidity is significantly higher and a bit more inconvenient especially on the inner island or south coast, but less affecting in Varadero at cuban north coast. The varadero summer brings also mostly daily heavy but short time during rain-showers. In Juli, August and September the water temperatures in beach zones can reach up to 30 °C (86 °F), more similar to a bath tub than a fresh ocean-coast. Strong temperatures and humidity in summer Just notice that in the summer-monthes may until october the cuban temperatures are not only hotter, but also the humidity is significantly higher and a bit more inconvenient especially on the inner island or south coast, but less affecting in Varadero at cuban north coast. Predominatly north-eastern winds are annealing the northern cuban coastline, where Vardero is situated, so that the rural heat in inner-cuban regions does not affect too much the coastal temperatures. Rarely cold fronts in Winter Just a few winter nights with north-western winds in december an january can bring cold air from the american main-continent, temperatures lower than 10 °C (50 °F) are observed very rarely.
